Six takeaways from our survey

01
Adoption is not the constraint. Absorption is.

Around two-thirds of respondents report employees eager to adopt AI and a similar share say AI agents already perform work once done by staff. But only a third have defined who is accountable for an AI-influenced decision and only a third have told employees how their performance will now be judged.

02
Comfort with AI assisted decisions is not translated into Accountability.

While leaders are comfortable with taking decisions using AI-assisted insights, the same has not translated into governance mechanisms, especially for Accountability of those decisions.

03
A third of respondents are changing shape without building the scaffolding.

Exposed Movers, the largest archetype, are restructuring roles at pace while sitting a full point below their peers on governance and performance readiness.

04
Anxiety peaks in middle management.

Forty-seven per cent of mid and senior managers report workforce anxiety about job security, against 27% of executives. The layer being asked to lead the change is also the layer whose own coordinating work AI most directly absorbs.

05
Respondents want judgment and are de-prioritising how judgment gets built.

Critical thinking (61%) and decision-making (59%) top the capability agenda. Coaching and developing people (30%) and resilience under pressure (18%) sit at the bottom.

06
Transformation and strain travel together.

Deep Transformers score highest on every measure of progress. They also report the highest anxiety and the sharpest sense that pace has outrun their people. Accountability is the one dimension on which they are no better than anyone else.
